Implementation of SDGs in the Nordic Arctic (ISDeGoNA)
Implementation of SDGs in the Nordic Arctic (ISDeGoNA) project is a collaboration between the Centre for Arctic Studies and Höfði Reykjavík Peace Centre at the University of Iceland, the Arctic Centre, the University of Lapland in Finland and the Centre for Arctic Sustainable Societies in Norway as the leading partner.
The project Implementation of SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) in the Nordic Arctic (ISDeGoNA) is a collaborative undertaking led by the Norwegian Research Centre NORCE with participation of the Arctic Centre of the University of Lapland and the University of Iceland. The project is to facilitate long-term reflection on the how SDGs are relevant for the Nordic Arctic.
The overarching goal of this project is to build a long-term knowledge base through the establishment of a Nordic Arctic interdisciplinary research network on sustainable development studies. The network will be built around three research objectives, which will also constitute policy relevant outputs in their own right:
1) To gain the Nordic Arctic stakeholders’ perspective on SDGs implementation;
2) To examine the potential of the Nordic leadership in other international fora (AC, AEC) on the SDGs implementation, partnership with and strengthening of these institutions;
3) To explore the need for Arctic specific SDG indicators.
