Hvordan blir pasienter med symptomer på depresjon møtt og hjulpet i primærhelsetjenesten? Spørreundersøkelse blant pasienter

250 people have responded to an invitation on the website of Mental Health to answer four open questions about how the GP has helped them with depression. The answers were subjected to a qualitative analysis (template analysis). The study emphasizes the central role of GPs in depression care: The patients say that they value the help they have received from the GP. They want a doctor who takes his/her time and listens with acceptance, understanding and respect. Medication can sometimes help, but patients do not want antidepressants without other follow-up. In those cases where a referral to a specialist is needed, the patients state that they still need help from the GP to find a practitioner. And if sick leave becomes relevant, the patients emphasize that it must be adapted to the individual's work and life situation.
